Kim’s Winter Nights Quilt
Hello!!
Did you get snowed on, too!! I live in Northern Utah, so snow is just part of life during the winter months. I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t typically get snow, got a ton. I hope you’re safe and you have power.
This lovely quilt was made by Kim!! Pictures just don’t do this one justice. The pattern is by Sherry Falls from This & That Pattern Company. It’s from her Winter Wonderland book and is called Winter Nights.
I love all the beautiful navy fabrics that Kim used, especially with the touch of light blue sashing.
I used a cream Omni thread, and Winline’s 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
We decided on Patricia Ritter and my Frost quilting design!!
It is such a fun quilty texture. It’s the perfect pairing to the star blocks and navy fabrics.
This is a perfect time to talk about thread!! I personally prefer lighter threads on darker fabrics, than darker threads on lighter fabrics. As you can see the cream that I used blends beautifully on the navy fabrics. I truly think it enhances most quilts to choose a neutral color of thread.
Omni thread is my go to thread now!! If you’re a machine quilter, you can buy a thread card that shows to the many Omni colors that Superior Threads offers.
Cream threads on dark backings aren’t always my favorite, but I do love looking at the beautiful dancing “Frost” across the back.
One more, you know, for good measure.
Thanks for being here!! I have an exciting announcement coming soon!! I’ll share here and on my Instagram and Facebook page. Until then, stay safe and warm!!
