Jan’s Ugly Sweater Christmas Tree Skirt

Hi Friends,
Have I got a fun tree skirt to share with you!!! Jan made this ugly sweater Star Wars themed tree skirt for her son and daughter in law. Yes, she fussy cut the star wars fabrics for the sweaters. The Original Ugly Christmas Sweater paper pieced pattern is by Kerry Goulder from Kid Giddy. Jan modified the pattern to work as a tree skirt, by making it bigger and wider.

I used my favorite 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline and a natural white Omni thread from Superior Threads.

Three skirts can be interesting to quilt. I always have the opening at the bottom, in the center. (This picture is taken on an angle.) By having the opening at the bottom it helps me lay the tree shirt flat.

I used my Southwest design for the quilting. It added such a fun texture with all those angles. Which I think is cool with all those fun Star Wars fabrics. Southwest is available in my shop.

Have you made a tree skirt before? I haven’t, but it sounds fun.

Jan said the diameter is 51.5”…if you’re curious about the size.

Thanks for coming by!! Happy quilting… Leisha
