Kristin’s Hexagon quilt

Kristin from sistersandquilters.etsy.com made this lovely quilt for a friend!  Kristin used the new cricket cutting machine to cut the block pieces out for this quilt.  She is going to blog about this project soon, head on over to sistersandquilters.blogspot.com and sign up to receive an email when she posts about this quilt.

Kristin used a wide variety of fabrics from several different designers.  Primarily, fabrics from Heather Baileywere used.  Some of which Kristin still has available in her online store.  sistersandquilters.etsy.com

One thing I LOVE as a quilter, is when the borders are flat!  No waves here!!!

I love to let the fabrics tell me what design to quilt on a quilt, and what scale to quilt it.  Because the blocks are huge, and some of the prints are as well, I went a little larger than I normally would with the size of this design.  The pattern height I quilted out at 3”, which is a perfect fit.  The design is by Natalia Majors from Jukebox Quilts and is called Modern Flower Border.  It came as a free design on my Statler.  I’m not sure where else you can purchase it.

Isnt that texture so awesome!  For me quilting adds so much texture and life to quilts, I love it.  I used a 30 tex white Perma Core thread and a 8020 cotton/poly blend batting.

thanks for stopping by!
