Laurie’s Color in the Lines Quilt
Laurie’s darling Color in the Lines baby quilt
This super sweet baby quilt is for Laurie’s first granddaughter!!! I’ve been friends with Laurie for awhile, and even babysat her kids. It’s exciting she finally has a granddaughter to go with her cute grandsons.
The pattern is called Color in the Lines which is in the book Charming Baby Quilts by Melissa Corry. You can get a copy in her Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/780104880/charming-baby-quilts-signed-paperback
The fabrics that Laurie chose have cute little things from France. I’m not sure who it is by.
She looked through my designs and chose Vintage Lace, which was exciting for me because I hadn’t put it on a quilt yet. It was perfect for the fabrics. The texture is so lovely. Vintage Lace is available in my shop, go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/p/vintage-lace
It quilted out so beautifully!!
I used Natural White Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.
The back has minky on it, so it’s extra cuddly.
This is why I love solid minky!!! The quilting provides unique texture that is so lovely.
If you’re interested in having me quilt edge to edge for you, check out my calendar and schedule a day or two. https://calendly.com/quiltingit/edgetoedge
Happy quilting!!! Leisha
Angie’s Pinwheel Baby Quilt
Love this super sweet baby pinwheel quilt that Angie made for her new granddaughter.
There are so many pinwheel patterns out there, I’ll let you pick one that you can find. One thing that help the pinwheels to stand out is adding the sashing and cornerstone blocks. Which also gives you the freedom to alternate the blocks, like Angie did every other row.
I used natural white Omni thread from Superior Threads, which is my go to thread of choice. I also used Winline Textiles 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
The panto design is Rose Vine by Norma Sharp. It’s a free one that came on my Gammill Statler.
Love this quilty texture!!
Look at the minky backing!! Texture on texture.
If you’re interested in having me quilt edge to edge for you, check out my calendar and schedule a day or two. https://calendly.com/quiltingit/edgetoedge

Denise’s Kracken Quilt
Isn’t this quilt amazing?!?!!!! Denise has made a few other Legit Kit quilts, and this Kracken quilt is one of them.
The kit is available here: https://legitkits.com/products/the-kracken-full-quilt-top-kit
Denise wanted an organic wavy line and I asked if it would be okay to add random circles throughout. When I think of octopuses I think of bubbles. I love how it turned out. I quilted everything freehand. I quilted the wavy lines first and then quilted the circles in here and there between the gaps in the curves.
I used an aqua colored thread from Superior Threads, I can’t remember if it was an Omni thread or a different one. I also used my favorite 8020 cotton poly batting from Winline Textiles.
Look at the incredible details on the face and arms. Amazing!!
Denise’s son wanted this quilt, lucky him!!!
Here is a close up of the wavy organic texture and circles.
I tried to make the quilting as random as possible.
Look at the details on the arms!! I was going to say tentacles but looked up the spelling and google said octopuses have arms with suckers on them, not tentacles. 🐙 Learning new things all the time.
Denise found this fun minky for the backing, which added a fun additional texture.

Heidi’s Special Vintage Quilt
Excited to share this stunning quilt with you!!
Heidi was given some of her grandmother’s hand embroidered dresser scarves and pillowcases, and she decided to make a beautiful quilt with them after seeing a quilt from Elsie Grays in Australia. She ordered precut diamonds in the most gorgeous fabrics from Elsie Grays, which was a fun shipment for her to receive in the US.
Here is a link to the fabric stores instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elsiegrays
Then she fussy cut the scarves and pillow cases, and let me tell you…this quilt is such a keepsake. I love the texture and details those stitches add, plus it’s a piece of her grandma.
If I had these precious heirlooms, I would make one too.
Heidi chose Patricia Ritter and my Haven panto design for the quilting. She wanted something loose and swirly. It’s a great choice. Haven is available at Urban Elementz : https://www.urbanelementz.com/haven.html
I used cream Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles which is based out of Utah.
Look at those embroidery details. 💕

Will’s Prairie Tracks Quilt
How beautiful is this quilt?!?! Will sent me this beautiful quilt to quilt a few months ago.
It’s the Prairie Tracks quilt by Cotton and Joy. The pattern is available here: https://cottonandjoy.com/products/prairie-tracks-quilt-pattern
I love the mini square in the center of the block with the mini strip of fabric. It’s almost as if the sashing and cornerstones that are typically around the blocks are inside this block. It makes the star blocks stand out more.
I used bamboo batting from Winline Textiles…have you tried bamboo on one of your quilts yet? You should! I have 4 oz and 6 oz available. Send me your quilt and we can try it out. I love the 8020 I use, but the bamboo is super soft.
I gave Will a few choices, and he chose Patricia Ritter’s and my Sweet Indigo design. Which happens to be my favorite floral panto design. Sweet Indigo is available at Urban Elementz. https://www.urbanelementz.com/sweet-indigo.html
I used natural white Omni thread from Superior Threads, if you’ve been around here for awhile you know it’s my go to favorite. It blends so well!!
Looks at that quilty texture, so good!!
If you’re interested in having me quilt for you, go to my calendar and schedule a day or two.

Carol’s Landscape Collage Quilt
Over my nearly 19 year longarm quilting career, I haven’t quilted many landscape or collage quilts…I can think of maybe one other.
Amazing, huh?!?! Carol took a picture, of a cactus with the mountains in the distance, and decided to do a collage quilt. Wait until you see the picture…it’s incredible she was able to get the cactus to be so similar.
The quilt size is a lot smaller than you’d think, which makes the details even more impressive. Around 20”x30”. She found an ombré background for the sky, which I love!!!
I did simple organic lines in the sky, straight lines in the blue mountains…which are like the Overlapping Lines that I teach in my Quilting It Freemotion course, echoed lines in the tan mountains, and my freehand Grass design that I also teach in my Quilting It Freemotion course.
For more info on my course, go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course
I’d love to teach you how to get started with freemotion quilting. Let me know if you have any questions.
See that quilty texture, sooo good!
I used a cream Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.
Here is Carol’s picture she sent…amazing that she could take a photo/memory and turn it into an amazing quilt!

Louise’s Heartsy Quilt
Excited to share this super darling baby quilt that I quilted for Louise.
The pattern is called Heartsy and is by Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew. The pdf pattern is available here: https://cluckclucksewshop.com/collections/pdf-patterns/products/heartsy-205-pdf-pattern
Louise wanted light custom, especially in the hearts. The backing is minky, so I definitely agree.
I quilted a double echo inside the hearts using an Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple. In fact, all the lines were done with her Edge rulers. Go to: https://www.thequiltedpineapple.com/shop/ to get yourself one.
I quilted my freehand Overlapping Circles behind the hearts, which is one of the designs that I teach in my Quilting It Freemotion course. Go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course to learn all about it. If you’re interested in learning to quilt freemotion, join me!!!
A close up on those Overlapping Circles. It’s one of my favorite background fillers.
In the surrounding squares I quilted a simple x in the small squares and a x with petals in the bigger squares. I used my 4” Circle2 machine quilting circle ruler for the petals. My Circle2 rulers can be found in my shop. Go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop
I used 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles and Natural White Omni thread from Superior Threads to quilt it.

Lisa’s Baby Quilt
I love a simple patchwork quilt that shows off the fabrics, like this fun dinosaur print that Lisa found which goes great in her grandson’s nursey. Lisa always finds fun coordinating fabrics with fun prints and textures. Like the woven fabrics that you’ll see below in the close ups.
My mom and I love to make baby quilts for family when they have their first baby, and we’ve learned that some people prefer a simple patchwork quilt over the ones with blocks or a pattern. I love patchwork quilts!! I made one last year for myself. Never underestimate the simple look of big squares. These squares are around 8”, if I remember right.
Lisa saw one of my newer panto designs and requested that for the quilting. This is Squared Rounded, which is a new take on my Squared panto design. The corners are rounded…which I’ve been wanting to do for awhile. Both designs are available in my shop. I love how it turned out!! Quilting certainly makes a quilt come alive.
Lisa is like me and LOVES the bamboo batting!! My personal favorite. I put the 4 oz. bamboo from Winline Textiles in this quilt, and used Natural White Omni Thread from Superior Threads.
Look at all those lovely textured fabrics…
And off course the quilty texture!!! LOVE!!

Kathy’s Moda Cake Mix Quilt
Excited to share this beautiful quilt with you that Kathy made!!
The pattern is one of the Moda Cake Mix Recipes, it’s the first block on recipe number 4, by Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co.
Without any sashing its fun to see all the additional designs and shapes from the block being right next to one another.
We used Diagonal Plaid by Patricia Ritter for the panto, which looks great with these blocks and fabrics. Diagonal Plaid is available at Urban Elementz.
I used natural white Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton/poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.
If you’re interested in having me quilt edge to edge for you, check out my calendar and schedule a day.
Happy quilting!! Leisha
Lisa’s Exploding Hearts Quilt
How darling is Lisa’s quilt?!?!!! What I first saw it I was amazed at the placement of each triangle that literally looked like it was bursting from the heart.
The pattern is called Exploding Hearts by Slice of Pi Quilts. It’s such a fun pattern!!
Lisa was excited about variegated thread, so we went with an Omni-V thread that looks perfect with the fabrics she chose. I also used my favorite 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.
Lisa went to the “Quilting Design Options” section on my website and picked out her design ahead of time. Did you know that I have several designs for you to choose from? Click here to check it out: https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-design-options
She chose Patricia Ritter and my Villa in Love design, which is available at Urban Elementz.
Here is a close up on that fun variegated thread.
I love the hearts and loops dancing around the quilt.

Nancy’s Howdy Christmas Quilt
Nancy made a couple of these fun Howdy Christmas quilts and I quilted them just before Christmas.
The Howdy Christmas fabrics are by Deborah Edwards and Northcott.
I used a light grey Omni thread from Superior Threads. I also used my favorite 8020 cotton poly blend batting.
We decided on Patricia Ritter and my Kindling panto design for the quilting. Which is the perfect texture for these cowboy quilts. Kindling is available at Urban Elementz, go to: https://www.urbanelementz.com/kindling.html
Here is a close up on the wood grain texture in the quilting design.
If you have a cowboy or cowgirl in your life, grab this panel while it’s still available. Do a google search for Howdy Christmas panel, and you should see several options. (It’s March 2024 when I searched)

Lisa’s Take Heart Quilt
How sweet is this quilt?!?! It’s almost like a log cabin block.
The pattern is called Take Heart by Modern Domestic, and it’s free!! Go here for all the details: https://moderndomesticpdx.com/free-take-heart-quilt-block-pattern/
Lisa paired the heart block with a solid square every other block to spread out the heart blocks, which I love!!
I suggest Patricia Ritter and my Cupid panto design for the quilting, and Lisa said yes!! I love the soft swirly curves with the hearts and all the negative space.
Cupid is available at Urban Elementz, go to: https://www.urbanelementz.com/cupid.html
I used a light grey Omni thread from Superior Threads. Omni is my favorite, my machine stitches beautifully with it.
I used 4oz bamboo batting, which is Lisa’s favorite. I can see why, bamboo is soft and cuddly, as well as eco friendly and the fold lines aren’t as prominent as they are with cotton or 8020 batting.
Close up!
The Cupid texture is sooo good, but wait…
Can you see the pink minky backing???
Whenever my clients want minky to back their quilts with, I hope is the solid minky. Who needs added texture from the minky when the quilting does a beautiful job!!! It’s one of my favorite things to see the quilty texture in the soft cuddly minky.
Look at all that goodness!!

Love this amazing quilt I got to quilt for Lisa at the end of last year.
The pattern is by Vanessa from V&Co and is called Fall Breeze. Go to: https://vanessachristenson.com/product/fall-breeze-ombre-quilt-pdf-pattern/
I love the chambray grey background fabric, Vanessa’s ombré fabrics shine!!!
I used Patricia Ritter and my Breeze panto design, which turned out so great!!! The leaves look like they’re swirling around in the wind. Breeze is available at Urban Elementz, go to: https://www.urbanelementz.com/breeze.html
I used a grey Omni thread from Superior Threads and bamboo batting from Winline Textiles. Their bamboo is divine!
I love the quilting texture in all of that negative space.
Lisa used a brushed flannel for the backing, and it was so cozy when it was done.

Denise’s Mom’s Cross-stitch Quilt
My friend Denise texted me a picture of this incredible quilt that she made using all the cross stitching her mom did and asked what we could do for the quilting. For starters I was in awe!! Look at all of those quilts perfectly stitched in each square.
I’m not sure what the pattern is for the cross-stitch. Denise just figured out the sashing…she’s amazing! She did put interfacing behind each block.
Back to the quilting we talked about me doing light custom, because I was leery of quilting on the cross-stitch and I didn’t want to take away from all her mom’s amazing work.
I started by quilting in the ditch on the inside border of each block. Then I quilted a swirly feather in each colored border. I knew I wanted to do the curved design in the sashing…which I’ve done several times before, it my favorite way to quilt sashing…but it’s definitely tricky when the blocks aren’t square. I pulled out my Circle2 rulers and figured out which two to use. I used the 7” on the sides and the 10” on the top and bottom. You’ll see below the 7” circle is on the inside of the ruler, on the 4”/10” ruler the 10” is on the outside. That means there are two different sizes of circles on each ruler. My Circle2 rulers can be found in my shop at: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop
I created these rulers back in 2018 because there was nothing like them and I desperately needed a circle ruler set. The circles range in size from 2” to 13” and are made from 1/4” high quality acrylic in America.
For the x’s in the corners I used an Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple. I also quilted in the ditch around the little 1/2” square and strips to accentuate them with the x’s surrounding them. Together the overall design frames each cross-stitch block beautifully.
You may be thinking, what about leaving those blocks un-quilted, doesn’t the batting need to be quilted…yes!!! Awhile back Denise had me custom quilting the sashing on a quilt and she went back and hand quilted part of it. I suggested she do the same with her mom’s quilt. She did! Little stitches around little parts in each block. I know battings have recommended sizes for how close the stitching should be so it doesn’t bunch up weird when it’s washed. I personally don’t like anything over 4” square, but I understand when something needs “less” quilting. Hand quilting was the perfect solution in this case.
I used a cream Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.
It’s so fun for me to be apart of quilts like this!! The end result makes me so happy!
If you’re interested in having me quilt edge to edge for you, check out my calendar and schedule a day. https://calendly.com/quiltingit

Heidi’s Simple Addition Quilt
When this beautiful quilt arrived I was in love with the colors and fabrics.
The pattern is called Simple Addition by Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew. Go here to get the PDF: https://cluckclucksewshop.com/collections/pdf-patterns/products/simple-addition-pdf-only
I used Natural White Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.
I used Pearce by Keryn Emmerson which is available at Urban Elementz. https://www.urbanelementz.com/pearce.html It’s such a classy design, and it looks beautiful with all these fabrics.
Hopefully you can see the swirl with a hook and the circles. One of my favorites!!
Designs like these tend to soften all the hard lines in the quilt pattern, too.
If you’re looking for a great plus quilt, this is a great one!!

Maria’s Into The Deep Quilt
If you follow me on instagram @leishakaye then you might have seen this incredible quilt on my machine this week!
Maria and her daughter Mary each made one, Mary’s will be quilted like Maria’s next. It’s fun to have twinning quilts!!
This is the Into The Deep pattern that was an exclusive pattern taught by Tula Pink herself on a cruise back in 2018. Unfortunately, I can’t find a pattern to link. Of course these are Tula’s gorgeous fabrics as well.
When I was brainstorming how to quilt Maria and Mary’s quilts, I had the thought to add some Graffiti style quilting between the squares. Which I think goes perfectly with Tula’s fabrics. Glad they were game!!
I used Natural White Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly Winline Textiles batting.
These are close ups of some of my favorite elements. Graffiti Quilting allows me to make stuff up as I go. Below I love the long skinny hooked leaf with the scalloped inside. Above, the simple leaf with the circles feather tip. There are many other fun elements just like these throughout the quilt. Check out my instagram for a video I posted of this quilt.
In the squares I quilted a simple x and then echoed the lines 1” outside the center x. I used the 12” Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple. Go to: https://www.thequiltedpineapple.com/shop/
If you’re a quilter, have you ever tried Graffiti Quilting? Do you want to?
Karlee Porter who is the mastermind behind Graffiti Quilting is teaching her 10th Anniversary Master Class this fall, and she’s given me a coupon code for you to join us!!!
