Midway Wool Quilts

Back in April I quilted these fun mini quilts for Midway Wool. There are fun wool textures on each quilt!!

This first one is called Grace by Jan Speed from A Piece of Work. The delicate stitching and wool textures are so beautiful!! Midway Wool has kits available on their website.

I used my favorite Edge ruler from Linda at The Quilted Pineapple to quilt the cross hatching on the border. https://www.thequiltedpineapple.com/shop/

I quilted pebbles and swirls in the center part, which are some of my favorites to quilt around appliqué or embroidery. If you’re interested in learning how to freemotion quilt, I’d love to help you!! Check out my Quilting It Freemotion Course on my website. https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course

I close up on the beautifully delicate flowers. I didn’t quilt the mini black border. I think it’s fine to leave a part unquilted, if there is lots of quilting around it.

I used cream Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.

Next up,

Gretta’s Flock by Midway Wool. This would be a fun runner, wall hanging, or pillow. A kit is available on their website at: https://midwaywool.com/collections/kits-patterns/products/grettas-flock

When Anna dropped this off for me to quilt, I asked her about quilting crackle in the background…she said Yes!!! I definitely don’t freehand chicken wire, but I thought it would be great to do something that fits the overall look of the wall hanging without being so predictable and quilting chicken wire. I teach crackle in my Quilting It Freemotion Course, check it out! https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course

I quilted a 1/2” diagonal line on the pinstripe, which adds texture and interest. I used Linda’s Edge ruler for the diagonal lines. The Crackle is freehand.

Look at these details!!

I used cream and black Omni thread from Superior Threads and Winline Textiles 8020 for the batting.

Last one…

It’s called Hen Party by Lamb Farm Designs, so fun!!! The kit is available here: https://midwaywool.com/products/hen-party

I think most of this one is wool, including the red sashing. Because of the thickness of the layers I couldn’t quilt the hens. Plus I didn’t want to take away from the beautiful stitches.

I quilted my Grass and Wood Grain freehand designs, which I also teach in my Quilting It Freemotion course. Go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course

I used the Deep Cardinal red and cream Omni thread from Superior Threads and 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles.

I quilted my freehand Swirly Feather in the outer border, which is also a design I teach in my Quilting It Freemotion Course. https://www.quiltingit.com/quilting-it-freemotion-course

I did quilt in the ditch on these steps because it was just poking up too much. Nice thing, you can’t even tell. You can see the pop in person though. So good!!

Thanks for stopping by. It’s fun to share these cute quilts with you!!

If you’re interested in having me quilt edge to edge for you, check out my calendar and schedule a day or two. https://calendly.com/quiltingit/edgetoedge

Happy quilting!! • Leisha
