Angie + Laurie’s Disappearing 9-Patch Quilt
Making quilts means a little something extra when it’s for someone who could use a little extra comfort. Angie + Laurie made this one together for a friend’s son who has cancer. They are such wonderful friends!
The pattern is called Disappearing Nine Patch, which is a free video tutorial by Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Go to: https://youtu.be/dEjZOXxPazg?si=2zrFwu8aSFHDM7sL
I used cream Omni thread from Superior Threads, which blends beautifully across all the beautiful fabrics. Go to: https://www.superiorthreads.com/omni-3004-cream/p/134-02-3004 and don’t forget to use my non-affiliate code to get 15% off your order. “ASTLEISHA”
I suggested a few panto designs to Angie + Laurie, and they chose my Squared Rounded design, which quilts out so nicely. Squared Rounded can be found in my shop, go to: https://www.quiltingit.com/shop/p/squared-rounded
The quilty texture is sooo good!
I love how they laid the blocks out! When I’ve made a couple of these I just mixed all the blocks up, then Angie mentioned that Laurie had a great layout idea!
I used 8020 cotton poly blend batting from Winline Textiles, it’s the best 8020 that I’ve ever quilted.
Laurie recently came across 90” wide minky that has this cute dot on it, I love it!! It’s a regular thickness, like other 90” wide minky with a print on it. The textured minkys with longer fibers just aren’t my favorite. So much of the quilting gets lost in them, and with the regular minky you get to see the quilty goodness!!
