Kathy’s Swell Christmas quilt!

There are Christmas quilts, and then there is this Swell Christmas quilt, made by Kathy and pattern/fabrics by Urban Chiks.  It’s a box kit from Moda.  The Santa makes the quilt, actually he is most of the quilt.  And, so adorable at that!!  

Seriously, that Santa!!   

Kathy and I looked through a bunch of swirly/circle designs, and she decided on this one...Gingersnap by Apricot Moon Designs.  I saw it on a winter quilt a quilty friend of mine quilted recently...so I was excited to see how it quilted out, especially on Santa’s beard.  

These throw back traditional fabrics and colors by Urban Chiks are such a hit.  I used Antique Cream A&E Perma Core 30 Tex thread and my favorite 8020 Winline batting.  

Beard pic...see what I mean.  That quilty texture is just so fun! 

The backing fabric is equally fun!!  Christmas quilting has started...excited to see what is next.
